The “We Know and Prophecy in Part” Fallacy for Justifying Failed and False Prophetic Words

Summary
Using 1 Corinthians 13:9 to justify failed prophetic words, basically renders direct words from God untrustworthy and useless to begin with.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part;

A person never knows if they should follow a direct word from God in the first place, because there is the potential it could actually lead them in the wrong direction. Prophets can’t have it both ways. They can’t claim you should follow what they say, and at the same time claim that the direction they just gave you might lead you in the wrong direction or might be wrong because they’re knowing and prophesying in part.

Explained
Many people use 1 Corinthians 13:9 to justify and dismiss failed and false prophetic words.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part;

You’re going to see how applying 1 Corinthians 13:9 that way basically renders direct words from God untrustworthy and useless, because you never really know if they’re going to be right or wrong.

Using that verse to justify false and failed prophetic words is a terrible misapplication of the verse. I’m going to point to three failed prophetic words from Charlie Shamp, and show how 1 Corinthians 13:9 has been misapplied to one of them. You can read the details of each failed word by clicking the associated link below.

Three Failed Charlie Shamp Prophetic Words

Maine Fishing Industry Will Break Records in 2017

Hurricane Michael Would Be Silenced

Republicans Would Hold the House and Gain 9 Seats in the Senate in the 2018 Midterm Elections

Let’s examine Charlie Shamp’s failed prophetic word about the 2018 midterm elections, then look at how 1 Corinthians 13:9 was misapplied to it, and then see why that is a terrible application for the verse.

The Lord spoke to me again, “As a sure sign of these things coming to pass there will be a wave of conservatives elected during the midterm election in November 2018, it will be Breaking News. They will carry the House and the Senate and I will uproot, replant and rebuild the nation. I will tie the three branches of government together for a person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. I will no longer allow your President to stand on his own. Even now I have called others to come along side and help bring the nation back from the dead and they will take their seats in the coming days.”

I saw the House of Representatives stay in the hands of the Republicans and will move much more to a conservative position. I could see into the Senate and saw the Republicans gain 9 seats, those that took their place were considerably more conservative then those who had previously been there. I heard the Lord say, “Yes, nine will be a sign; a sign that righteousness has been birthed in the nation and earth.” I saw three constitutional conservatives were appointed to the Supreme Court by President before 2020. Notice there is a direct quote from God. This isn’t someone piecing together an abstract vision. This is a direct quote.

Charlie Shamp later came out and admitted his failed word, but then appealed to 1 Corinthians 13:9. Link

Saddened that what I was shown prophetically did not come to pass during this midterm, but I’m grateful for God’s Grace and Mercy over the nation of America will continue. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; I’m just thankful that God lets us be a part of his plan. Praying for America, the nation that I love so dearly will be Awakened by the blood of Christ!
-Prophet Charlie Shamp

It’s absurd to justify the 100% failure of a direct quote from God by appealing to the fact that we know and prophecy in part. He said God told him that in the 2018 midterms conservatives would carry the House and Senate.

If I said that God told me the Dodgers would win the 2018 World Series, and then the Red Sox won instead, and justified my failure by saying I only know and prophecy in part, well that would be absurd.

This supposed word from God could only be true or false, yes or no, black or white, on or off. Either conservatives would carry the House and Senate, or they would not carry the House and Senate.

This direct quote was tied to the 2018 midterms, so one can’t say that it might have a future fulfillment The failure isn’t a sign of knowing in part, it’s a sign of being completely wrong. You can’t know part of something that only has two options.

If options A and B are the only two options, and I claim God directly told me it would be A, but then it turns out to be B, I can’t then dismiss my failure by saying I only know and prophecy in part.

We would never know if we should even take a word from God seriously if there was a chance it could fail because “we know and prophecy in part”. Imagine a direct word from God that said to travel east instead of west for a safe journey. So you go east, and end up getting eaten alive by bears, but if you had traveled west you would have made your journey safely.

If upon seeing the bears, and if upon being slowly mauled away, your prophet would have justified himself by appealing to 1 Corinthians 13:9, you would have said he’s full of nonsense.

Imagine hearing that word about traveling east. You know that it might be wrong because, after all, we only know and prophecy in part.

We don’t have any reason to trust direct words from God, when they have the potential of being incorrect due to the misapplication of 1 Corinthians 13:9. Do you see how applying 1 Corinthians 13:9 like this renders prophetic words totally useless and untrustworthy to begin with? A person never knows if they should follow a direct word from God in the first place, because there is the potential it could actually lead them in the wrong direction.

Scripture doesn’t give prophets a 1 Corinthians 13:9 escape hatch.

Deuteronomy 18

20 But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, [m]that prophet shall die.’ 21 [n]You may say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ 22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

When a prophet wants to appeal to 1 Corinthians 13:9 to justify their failed prophecies, they’re basically rending any future claims to direct revelation useless, because they’re admitting that what they’re saying might be wrong. If it could be wrong, why should you follow any words or warnings they may give? Following said words or warnings might lead you really astray and maybe even into sin and outside of the will of God.

Prophets can’t have it both ways. They can’t claim you should follow what they say, and at the same time claim that the direction they just gave you might be wrong or lead you in the wrong direction because they’re knowing and prophesying in part.

Charlie Shamp’s Midterm Election Prophecy Destroyed by Hacking and Meddling from Reality

ShampLead11062018

Charlie Shamp’s prophetic word about the 2018 midterm election was going just fine until it was hacked and meddled with by reality. Shamp and most of his supporters will flippantly shrug their shoulders at using God’s name in vain and speaking falsely in his name, and move to the next “prophetic” word.

In a prophecy dated June 7, 2018 Charlie Shamp said there would be a wave of conservatives elected in the November 2018 midterm election. He said conservatives would carry the House and Senate, with the Republicans holding the House and gaining 9 seats in the Senate.

The Lord spoke to me again, “As a sure sign of these things coming to pass there will be a wave of conservatives elected during the midterm election in November 2018, it will be Breaking News. They will carry the House and the Senate and I will uproot, replant and rebuild the nation. Charlie Shamp is a master at failed prophecy. He said Hurricane Michael would be silenced, and that the Maine fishing industry would break records in 2017. Both of those failed. You can read about those by clicking the links in the previous sentence.

Most people who know scripture would know he’s a false prophet. Sadly he has devised an escape hatch out of that justified label. He blames his prophetic fails on the failure of people to pray. You can read about that here.

Some may give him a pass because of the verses below.

Corinthians 13:For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.

1 Corinthians 14: :27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every [m]form of evil.

Shamp appealed to the verses in 1 Corinthians 13 to dismiss his false prophecy. Link

shamppart1.png

Appealing to those verses as justification for failed prophecy is nonsense. You can read why here.

Prophesying in part, and knowing in part doesn’t mean God won’t communicate clearly when he gives a word. That didn’t mean God communicated incompletely when he gave a revelation, it meant sometime in the future we would have full revelation on all things.

If this meant a revelation from God could be wrong or lacking, then it would mean a Christian would never know if the revelation from God should be believed and followed. (If he said leave such and such an area, but there was a chance that wasn’t complete, and you didn’t have to leave, then what would the point be in trying to follow it? You’d never know if a word was really a word and was to be followed.)

When God gives a word, he clearly reveals what is intended to be revealed. If he didn’t clearly communicate his intent, then there would be no purpose in listening and attempting to obey in the first place. This is just a lame attempt by false prophets to wiggle out of their deception.

Also there was no ambiguity or lack of clarity in his supposed direct revelation from God.

I saw the House of Representatives stay in the hands of the Republicans

I could see into the Senate and saw the Republicans gain 9 seats,

The claim of carrying all of the house and senate was a direct quote from the mouth of God supposedly. That wasn’t some odd puzzle he had to supposedly piece together, which he can claim as a failure on his part to connect said puzzle pieces. If this were some sort of partial word, then for it to be a true partial word it would have meant something like the below. The below quotes are directly associated with the direct quote.

I saw the House of Representatives stay in the hands of the Republicans, but it wasn’t really in their hands.

I could see into the Senate and saw the Republicans gain 9 seats, but they didn’t really gain 9 seats.

If that was the full revelation, then God would have been saying yes and no at the same time, and he’d be 100% schizophrenic. We know God doesn’t say yes and no.

2 Corinthians 1:15-22

15 In this confidence I intended at first to come to you, so that you might [h]twice receive a [i]blessing; 16 [j]that is, to pass [k]your way into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be helped on my journey to Judea. 17 Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or what I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that with me there will be yes, yes and no, no at the same time? 18 But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no. 19For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silvanus and Timothy—was not yes and no, but is yes in Him.20 For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, 22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a [l]pledge.

I think Charlie Shamp simply pays attention to current events, and cloaks educated guesses in prophetic garb. (He probably saw that there were 10 Democratic senators up for election in Trump country, and decided to make a reasonable guess. I’m planning a future post regarding my theory on Shamp prophecies. Come back later for that.) When he guesses right, then he flaunts it. When he’s wrong he blames it on lack of prayer, and acts like there is nothing to see here, and keeps people distracted with new fresh words.

Charlie Shamp can try inoculating himself against being called a false prophet, and his supporters can misapply the verses above to justify it, but that doesn’t negate what scripture says.

Deuteronomy 18

20 But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, m]”>[m]that prophet shall die. 21 n]”>[n]You may say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

Many people don’t understand the seriousness of claiming that God told them something. They act like it’s the same as making a wrong prediction about the weather or the outcome of a sporting event.

You’re not simply claiming to speak the musings of your own imagination when you claim to speak words you heard from God, you’re invoking the weighty, lofty, glorious name of God. Speaking falsely in God’s name is a form of taking his name in vain.

Exodus 20:7

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not [a]leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

This is serious stuff folks. You should run from someone who fails at this stuff and treats failure so flippantly. Charlie Shamp needs to close up shop, and seek repentance and forgiveness from God.

Please don’t gloss over this as coming from the musings of a “religious” hater. Those terms are used by false prophets to make you dismiss the seriousness of their error.

Charlie Shamp Inoculates Himself Against Being Called a False Prophet

ShampLead10272018a.png

Charlie Shamp just inoculated himself from ever being accused of being a false prophet. Basically if something doesn’t happen it’s because people didn’t pray enough. If this excuse can be used, then we’re pretty much unable to label a prophecy as false. This is possibly a reaction to recent reports of two failed prophecies from Shamp. He said Hurricane Michael would be silenced (read here), and he said the Maine fishing industry would break records in 2017 (read here), and both prophecies were failures. Watch the video below. Click here if the video doesn’t load.

Scripture doesn’t let failed prophets inoculate themselves by blaming lack of prayer. The “inoculation” for false prophets was actually death. Deuteronomy 18.

20 But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, m]”>[m]that prophet shall die. 21 n]”>[n]You may say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ 22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

Failed False Prophet Charlie Shamp Takes His Failed Promises and Prophecies to Kenya

ShampLead10242018a

Summary
Failed prophet Charlie Shamp is taking his spectacle of falsehood and failure to Kenya for a crusade November 8-11, 2018. He’s promising the presence and power of Christ to the people of Kenya. Shamp has an accumulating record of failed prophecies and failed promises traveling behind him in anything but a train of triumph.

Recently he had a failed series of decrees and declarations. On October 17, 2018 he decreed that all yokes of setback were broken. (Read about that here.) Apparently that failed because on October 22, 2018 he had to issue another decree that things were defeated. (Read about that here.) He prophesied and promised that Hurricane Michael would be silenced. It wasn’t silenced, and instead caused death and major damage. (Read about that here.) In 2017 he prophesied and promised that the Maine fishing industry would break records. It did not break records, and it actually showed decline. (Read about that here.)

Charlie Shamp’s recent failed promises in decrees and declarations.

On October 17, 2018 he declared all yokes of setback broken. Apparently that failed because he had to issue another decree on October 22, 2018. He had to decree every stronghold gone, again.

Then there are his failed promises and prophecies regarding the silencing of Hurricane Michael, and the success of the 2017 Maine fishing industry. Those links are above in the introduction.

Charlie Shamp is a false prophet with a record of failed promises and prophecies. He should not be regarded as a prophet of God. He should be regarded as a man in desperate need of calling upon God to grant him repentance from making false prophecies and promises in the name of God.

A Message to Charlie Shamp and His Supporters

I know many of you reading this right now are very upset that something like this could be said about someone you really esteem. That’s understandable. Please take a few minutes regardless, and read, and think.

Shamp wants to prevent you from thinking about this. He wants to simply label this as from witches, warlocks, religious spirits, etc. Those are thought stopping techniques, meant to stop you from doing the biblical work of thinking, testing, and discerning.

Just take 10 minutes, or less, and read this entry. I know you may like, love, and know Shamp. That shouldn’t prevent you from slowing down and reading facts and discerning for yourself.

Are you open to at least looking at facts even though you may like\love\know Charlie Shamp?

If you’re not open to at least taking 10 minutes and hearing me out, and looking at the facts, then you’re potentially open to false prophets.

Click the links on this post. It’s really easy to read. I can prove very easily that Charlie Shamp has spoken things God clearly has not told him to speak.

1. Charlie Shamp said God told him the Maine fishing industry would break records in 2017. This did not happen. It was a false prophecy. Click this link to read.

Charlie Shamp has made the grave sin of speaking things in the name of God, that God did not tell him to speak. Jesus can grant him repentance and forgiveness. Please don’t let your like, love, and closeness to Shamp prevent you from doing the work of discernment.

Jesus said that in the end times false prophets would come, and a strong delusion would be sent. We must be vigilant, even if it’s someone we adore and esteem.

Question: But doesn’t scripture say that we prophecy in part (1 Corinthians 13:9), and doesn’t it say to examine prophecy closely (1 Thessalonians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 14:29)? Doesn’t that mean Christian prophecies can be partly wrong?

Answer: These verses do not mean Christian prophets will be given incomplete words from God. These verses are not get out of jail free cards for Christians who prophecy falsely. In part means that this side of eternity we don’t have a full understanding of heaven. It’s not saying God will only give you some of what he means to say if he gives you a prophecy.

We’re told to examine prophecy not because God will give you half of a revelation, but because false prophets will sneak in, and we need to figure out if what’s being said is from a true prophet or a false prophet.

If God only gave a prophet some of what he intended, and if that meant Christian prophecies are somewhat wrong, then it would be pointless to listen to them, because you’d never have a complete word from God to hear.

When God gives a word he gives it completely, and the true prophet knows it.

Every false prophet could get away with it by simply appealing to verses about apparent incomplete words given by God.

Regardless, if you look at the links above, you’ll see Charlie Shamp is claiming to speak with authority, and there is no hedging of his bets. He’s a false prophet.

Listen, I know you adore Charlie Shamp. There are preachers I adore too, and if someone appeared to be bad mouthing them, I’d be upset. Regardless, I and you can’t allow feelings to prevent us from doing the hard job of discerning and testing things.

Take a few minutes and check out the links above. It’s very easy to access and read.

I pray for you and for Charlie Shamp to be set free from this delusion.

Charlie Shamp 2017 Maine Fishing Industry Prophecy Failed: Fishing Industry Declined Despite Word Saying It Would Break Records

ShampLead10172018a

SUMMARY

Charlie Champ said God told him that Maine would break all records in the fishing industry in 2017. Lobster and fish were specifically mentioned. That was a false word from God because Maine did not break all records in the fishing industry in 2017 and actually showed decline.

breakrecords1.pngEXPLAINED

In 2017 Charlie Shamp claimed to receive a word from God that Maine would break all of the records in the fishing industry in 2017. Lobster and fish were specifically mentioned. This word was posted on his website dated 01-10-2017. Link Archived Link

Today while I’m prayer I was taken to Maine, the State located on the East Coast of America where I was shown a massive amount of fish and lobster caught in fishing nets. I heard the Lord say, “Maine, oh Maine, you will break all records in the fishing industry this year.” For the Lord says, “You shall be a sign to the nation that abundance and blessing are returning to America. The working men and women of America will partake and touch luxury and wealth where they never have before. Where they felt for years that they could never catch a break the Lord says, this will be a time of abundant blessing and prosperity for my people.” The Lord said to me again, “Watch the fishing industry of Maine for it will be the sign!” -Charlie

Maine did not break all records, and actually showed decline.

Bangor Daily News reported this about statewide lobster landings in 2017. Dated 03-02-2018 Link Archived link

The value of Maine’s statewide lobster landings in 2017 dropped by nearly $100 million from the previous year, the largest single-year decline in the fishery’s history.

Maine is in the midst of a lobster bonanza — last year alone, the state hauled in 111 million pounds of the crustaceans, worth around $434 million. This was a drop from 2016’s record catch of 132.5 million pounds (worth $540 million) but still more than five times what lobstermen brought in 30 years ago.

This is another failed prophecy from false prophet Charlie Shamp. Recently he said God told him that Hurricane Michael would be silenced. Hurricane Michael was not silenced, and you can read about that here.

Charlie Shamp and his followers need to call upon God and ask him to grant them repentance from believing these lies and delusions.

Acts 11:18
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.

Charlie Shamp if you’re reading this, please ask for repentance. You’re either lying through your teeth and making things up, or you’re under a strong demonic delusion and need to be set free. Maybe it’s a combination of both, or something else, or a combination of multiple things.

Regardless, please, you need to call upon the merciful God and be saved from this. My hope for you and your followers is that you would be set free from all of this nonsense. The record of your false prophecies is there for the world to see. Call upon Jesus and be saved, delivered, and forgiven for these grave sins of speaking in the name of God things God has not said.

Jeremiah 23

16 Thus says the Lord of hosts,
“Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you.
They are leading you into futility;
They speak a vision of their own [e]imagination,
Not from the mouth of the Lord.
17 “They keep saying to those who despise Me,
‘The Lord has said, “You will have peace”’;
And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart,
They say, ‘Calamity will not come upon you.’
18 “But who has stood in the council of the Lord,
That he should see and hear His word?
Who has given heed to [f]His word and listened?
19 “Behold, the storm of the Lord has gone forth in wrath,
Even a whirling tempest;
It will swirl down on the head of the wicked.
20 “The anger of the Lord will not turn back
Until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart;
In the last days you will clearly understand it.
21 “I did not send these prophets,
But they ran.
I did not speak to them,
But they prophesied.
22 “But if they had stood in My council,
Then they would have announced My words to My people,
And would have turned them back from their evil way
And from the evil of their deeds.

Shamp Prophecy Silences Hurricane Michael down to Cat 4 155mph Winds at Landfall Causing Major Damage and Life Lost

ShampLead10102018a.png

SUMMARY

Prophet Charlie Shamp gave a prophecy that Hurricane Michael would be silenced. It was apparently silenced down to a CAT 4 with 155mph winds at landfall, causing much damage and life lost. Shamp engaged in some prophetic chest thumping, indicating major world leaders should come to him for insight into the future. Based on the definition of silenced, I suggest world leaders refrain from going to him.

Shamp also said Leviathan’s head would be crushed beyond repair, implying from now on Leviathan is dead, and all of those books, videos, and blogs on how to fight him are no longer necessary, as are any future books, videos, and blogs about him.

EXPLAINED

In a prophecy dated 01-15-2018 Prophet Charlie Shamp said there would be a storm to hit the panhandle of Florida that would be silenced. He said it was some how a manifestation of the Leviathan spirit. (Archived link) (It should be noted that a hurricane in this region isn’t something that’s rare. In other words pretty much anyone could toss up a vague prediction similar to this and claim fulfillment eventually.)

On 10-09-2018 on Facebook Shamp announced that Hurricane Michael is related to the prophecy he released dated 01-15-2018. (Archived link)

The headline said Leviathan would be silenced. Shamp said “the prayers of the righteous will silence the storm.”

Was the storm silenced?

Looks like Hurricane Michael was silenced to a category 4 with 155mph winds at landfall with major destruction and life lost.

Silenced and devastation are not mutually exclusive terms for Prophet Charlie Shamp as we see from this Facebook post. (Archived link)

As I was tidying up this entry I noticed Shamp did some prophetic chest pounding and ranting against heresy hunters on Facebook. (Archived link)

Shamp222.png

Unless the definition of silence means something else, I’d highly suggest that world leaders not seek his opinion about what is to come.

The prophetic word also said Leviathan’s head would be crushed, damaging him beyond repair.

My word will go forth from your mouth as a piecing arrow of deliverance that will strike the serpent. In that day I will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent with my fierce and mighty sword, even Leviathan the twisted serpent and my body will silence this dragon who lives in the sea. You will crush the head of Leviathan, you deal to him a wound that he will not recover from as you pray.

This implications of this are astounding. From here on out none can further claim Leviathan is attacking them. Why? Because his head is crushed and he can’t recover. This renders all books on how to defeat Leviathan unnecessary. That is, if Shamp is a true prophet. To keep those books or to dispose of them? Tough call.
